ravel is not all glitz, glamour, and incredible backpacking trips. It is romantic to imagine the traveler as a carefree spirit. She is the restless nomad guided by an open heart, lifted up and empowered by the winds of change. Not all travelers are seeking to change anything more than their surroundings, but real adventures change you. To be an adventurer one must be willing to be uncomfortable, to face inner demons, to challenge long held beliefs, and to question everything.

As Nicolas Bouvier once wrote, “Traveling outgrows its motives. It soon proves sufficient in itself. You think you are making a trip, but soon it is making you – or unmaking you.”

Embrace anyone who has the gumption to get up and go and visit a new place. Let yourself be a tourist of your own homeland, see your neighborhood with new eyes.
